About EMIS

One country, one record

The Education Management Information System is the Ministry's official source of truth for every school, student, and teacher in Sierra Leone. Unlike legacy systems that relied on annual paper census forms, EMIS reads live data directly from the school management network at gov.school.edu.sl.

Every admission, transfer, attendance mark, and exam result is reflected here within minutes. The National Student Identifier (NSI) gives every learner a single lifetime record that travels with them from nursery through university.

  • Real-time data — no annual paper census wait
  • Single national identifier (NSI) per learner, for life
  • Open machine-readable exports for researchers and partners
  • District & LGA drill-down for evidence-based planning
